Long exposure photography is really amazing technique to capture light and movement. When an image is taken including stationary and moving subjects (for example, a fixed street and moving cars or a camera within a car showing a fixed dash-board and moving scenery) using a slow shutter speed, interesting effects, such as light trails occur.

Long exposures are easiest to accomplish in low-light conditions, but can be done in brighter light using neutral density filters or specially designed cameras.

Here i have collected 26 eye-caching examples of long exposure photography.

Excellent post !!!! Loved them all... Thanks :)
  • Here's an example of long-exposure, no HDR, old-school b&w:

Real art, I collect city photos because they represent a lot of hardworking taxpayers money and if we don't stop sinning, they'll be HISTORY. Of course, the History Channel would like to see it all gone and us with it! Thank you!
  • Breathtaking Photography!!!

truly inspirational stuff, even though as some previous comments have pointed out. Not all are long exposures.

  • Nice shots, although I doubt all are long exposure. But beautiful nonetheless. Thank You.
  • very beautiful pics. thxs 4 the collection ;)
  • bb, please post your amazing pictures for us to enjoy.
  • The 9th picture, showing the sun over a bridge is definitely not a long-exposure shot. The cars are perfectly captured, and I looked at the properties on the Flickr page, and that shot was taken at a shutter speed of 1600. That's pretty dang fast. Great pics otherwise though.
  • Check this one out. 2 hours with flash exposed groomer in the forground http://unreddave.smugmug.com/Baldface-Lodge/Snowcats/5912102_oRkq3#367843895_AarNB
  • These are sooooo cooooool!!
  • wow, what is it about mist? Always looks cool
  • excellent collection.
  • I agree with @Manz - the snowed forest is great - something out of the x-files, but not all of these are long exposure. The theme park big drop ride is just using a 'tracking' technique. Also if this (http://pelfusion.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/long-xposure-photo1.jpg) was long exposure all the cars would be blurred.
  • Wow! What a beautiful collection!

I really like the one with two buildings topping up to the sky... Simply beautiful.

    Thanks!
  • Awesome pictures!
  • There are a few pictures here that definitely stood out. I also agree with Manz, the forest at night is very eye catching.
  • thanks for this great post
  • Traffic lights are always interesting, however the shot that stands out for me in this collection is the forest at night.
