As your blog’s traffic grows, spammers will rush to your blog too and spam comments is a serious problem for all bloggers. You have to go through comments everyday and delete the spam comments, which is really a headache.

Today i have collected 15 most important wordpress plugins to help you fight spam. These plugins will help you by blocking spam bots to comment on your blog, by blocking trackback spams and to prevent spam harvesters from collecting email address from your posts.

1. Akismet

Akismet checks your comments against the Akismet web service to see if they look like spam or not and lets you review the spam it catches under your blog’s “Comments” admin screen.

I want to second Antispam Bee. I run it with Akismet. I haven’t seen a single spam comment since installing it. (Still see the occasional spam trackback though.)

Good and useful list. I couldn’t see using all of these at once but there are some good ones here. I personally really dislike the use of the CAPTCHA since It often times creates a very bad users experience. I prefer bad behaviour for comment spam and of course Akismet but you’ll never catch me w/ a CAPTCHA on my site in a million years.

I think that, after Askimet, I haven’t had to use any other plugin whatsoever. It’s a great tool that learns fast, and I’m happy about that.

I’m also someone who hates captcha; I just have so many problems seeing the numbers or letters when people have those backgrounds that I often type them in wrong. Most irritating, I’d have to say.
